Arsenic pollution of the groundwater – new research project in Vietnam

Pollution of the groundwater from arsenic is a serious threat to the health of many of the people around the world living in flood plains. One of the countries affected is Vietnam, where the groundwater pumped up from the flood plain around the Red River near Hanoi is polluted with arsenic in many places.

Over the next three years, a new Danish research project funded by the Council for Development Research under Danida will attempt to uncover the processes leading to this pollution and transfer this knowledge to Vietnamese research institutions.
